Mustache Day
It's that time of the school year when I'm finally realizing I NEED to start wrapping everything up! While organizing files on my laptop, and transferring photos off my phone... I came across this little gem from December 7th. It was a Friday Spirit Day: Mustache Theme :-)

Spring Break!
After a very busy, and whirlwind week, we are happily on Spring Break!
Maile and I have been visiting Shorewood's playground during this week to take advantage of the sun breaks during the rain. Hope you, your students and your family, are having a relaxing Spring Break!

Shorewood Concert
Some photos from this year's all-school performance! Thank you to those who attended! You were wonderful performers!
MSP
Shorewood's 4th graders have been chosen by the state to pilot this year's Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) in Writing, ahead of the rest of the state's 4th graders! How lucky for us....?! This meant, we have had to intensify our writing lessons. As you may have noticed with the last report cards, our fourth graders definitely have been writing a WHOLE bunch!
Writing parts 1 and 2 are both over now. We will take the reading and math assessments in May. Until then, please ensure that your child has a good breakfast and plenty of sleep. No homework on MSP days~

Mr. Moody's class gave us a poster of inspiration! We made one of our own for Mrs. Elliott's class! |

Winter Homework Treat
For nearly a week, the students whose homework received a mean score of 3.5 on their Winter Homework (weeks 11-20), were voting for their special treat. It came down to strawberry milkshakes or passion fruit bubble tea. Of the 11 students, it was a 10-to-1 win for passion fruit bubble tea. I think they all enjoyed it :-)

There's always something interesting each day...
In case you needed a reason to look forward to today, it is National Crown Roast of Pork Day!
And yes, students will be submitting their final draft of their narrative story about "a raccoon holding a cat." I have not read their rough drafts, but the students promised me they used creative names for their characters. Look for a copy of your child's stories in their report cards next week.

On the Eve of...
In teacher world, Valentines Day sugar-mayham comes second after Halloween. We were also due to end our Poetry Unit. And rather than having a crazy Mrs.Gordon throw back-to-back celebrations Thursday and Friday right before Mid-Winter Break, she decided to just COMBINE them.
